The Mahakala ritual ceremony starts in the full traditional way with the chanting of the hymn of praise lead by chanting master. While the chanting is in its high note, the new discipliner enters the assembly hall and takes the charge of the discipline of the house. According to a century old tradition, the new discipliner is handed over the charter of the house and the register of the house, which contains a complete list of the monks who sought admission to the house. After that, the newly appointed discipliner receives the blessings from the image of His Holiness by offering a scarf to it.
